Overview:

The Thabo Mofutsanyana District and its local municipalities are dedicated to enhancing infrastructure, promoting sustainability, and improving public services through a range of key initiatives. Below are the highlights of ongoing projects. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to improving infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and community well-being throughout the Thabo Mofutsanaya District.

Projects:

Roads and Stormwater Management:
  • Reservoir Development: Construction and refurbishment of reservoirs in various locations, including:
    • 3 ML reservoir in Matebeleng (Maluti a Phofung).
    • 6 ML reservoir and pipeline in Ladybrand (Thabo Mofutsanyana).
  • Wastewater Treatment: Upgrading and refurbishment of wastewater treatment works in Ficksburg, Senekal, and Clocolan.
  • Water Supply Initiatives: Bulk water supply projects and upgrades to pumping stations across the district.

Water and Sanitation:
  • Water and Sewer Reticulation: Installation of new water and sewer networks in multiple localities, including:
    1. Welkom Hani Park (Thabong Ext 18)
    2. Thabong Extensions 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11
    3. Kutlwanong Ext 13
  • Water Meter Installations: Implementation of domestic, zonal, and bulk water meters in various communities.
  • Upgrading of Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW): Refurbishments and upgrades in multiple locations, including Winburg and Thabong.

Environmental and Waste Management:
  • Integrated Waste Management Plans: Development of plans in Nketoana, Maluti a Phofung, and Mantsopa to enhance waste disposal practices.
  • Landfill Site Management: Closure and rehabilitation of identified landfill sites, along with the construction of new waste disposal sites.
  • Green Initiatives: Anti-poaching projects and various environmental activities, including the declaration of private nature reserves.

Disaster and Fire Management:
  • Disaster Management Plans: Development of comprehensive plans in Nketoana and Phumelela to enhance community resilience.
  • Fire Control Room: Establishment of a dedicated facility for fire and disaster management in Mantsopa, along with upgrades to equipment for efficient service delivery.

Local Economic Development:
  • Youth Development Projects: Agricultural initiatives aimed at promoting youth employment and skills training.
  • Crafts Manufacturing Centers: Establishment in Nketoana to support local economies and promote sustainable practices.
