Overview:
The Fezile Dabi District is dedicated to enhancing environmental sustainability through a range of impactful projects. Key initiatives include retrofitting street lights and high mast luminaires to reduce energy consumption, alongside the construction of new concrete reservoirs in Namahadi and Steynsrus to improve water storage and distribution. Waste management efforts focus on promoting better environmental practices through community engagement in street cleaning, illegal dump clearance, and educational campaigns. The district is also actively involved in an Alien Plant Clearing Project aimed at preserving local biodiversity. Local municipalities are collaborating on various greening initiatives, including the development of Green Plans and the eradication of illegal dumping. Water sector improvements are underway, with projects aimed at upgrading sanitation infrastructure and ensuring access to potable water by 2027. Together, these projects reflect the district’s commitment to sustainable development and resilience against climate change.
